The renowned Pinellas Trail, a 15-foot-wide, 40-mile haven for walkers, skaters and bikers, runs through Dunedin. It’s lined by bicycle and skate rental shops and places to grab a quick meal or a cooling treat. The hiker-friendly Trail helped Dunedin earn the ranking of “Best Walking Town in America.” Dunedin is also a sports town. The Toronto Blue Jays have held spring training here for over 25 years. When the major leaguers return home, the Dunedin Blue Jays take the field for the summer. Dunedin is close to many other sports teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Devil Rays, Lightning and Storm. Golfers love Dunedin Country Club, open to the public and offering what is often considered the best values in the Tampa area. Designed by Donald Ross, among the world's greatest golf course architects, it was the PGA National Golf Course from 1945 to 1962 and Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead were just a few of the greats who played there. Dunedin is convenient to dozens of great golf courses offering challenging play for all skill levels. Dunedin is also close to many attractions, museums, festivals and interesting towns. Busch Gardens is minutes away and the Greek community, Tarpon Springs, is ten minutes north. The world famous Dali Museum in St. Petersburg is a short drive and Ruth Eckerd Hall is home to a series of concerts from classical to contemporary. |
